With the launch of  Shadowlands, the latest expansion of WoW, Blizzard has changed a lot in level to make the game more enjoyable. Here is the latest information about the new leveling with possible duration.

How many levels are there on WoW?

Before Shadowlands, the cap level for a character was 120. The players had to spend hundreds of hours in leveling. It was too hectic for the players. This frustrated not only the newbies but also the veteran players of the game. In 2019 Blizzard started to fix this problem.

In November 2020 they launched Shadowlands. They have revamped the leveling and have made 60 as the cap level for the character. It was a smart decision from Blizzard. Now the players don’t have to spend a lot of ours on leveling. Even a new player can max a single character in less than 40 hours of playtime.

Time required reaching level 50 in WoW:

Leveling from 1-10:

If you are a new player, then you will be starting in the Exile’s Reach, an uncharted island in Shadowlands. You will be playing in this zone until you reach level 10.

Old players of the game have the opportunity to choose the starting zone. They can either start at Exile’s Reach or at the starting zone of the characters.

Both newbies and veteran players of the game can reach level 10 in less than an hour.

Leveling from 10-50:

After reaching level 10, new players will leave the Exile’s Reach. Then, they have to play through the storyline of Battle for Azeroth. This way new players will reach level 50.

Leveling by playing through the Battle for Azeroth is quite fast. The quests are also interesting in this expansion. For a new player, it will take about 20 hours to reach level 50. You can reduce the leveling time to 15 hours. Using proper add-on for leveling and choosing classes with high DPS are the two options to decrease the leveling time.

For experienced players, this part is a bit more interesting. After reaching level 10, they can choose any of the previous expansions to play through and reach level 50. They can also change expansion while leveling.

Warlords of Draenor is the fastest option for the old players to reach level 50. It will take about 12 hours. Playing through Legion will require about 14 hours. Through Battle for Azeroth and Mists of Pandaria, the average required time is 16 hours. It takes at least 20 hours to reach 50 through the rest of the expansions.
